100% GRASS-FED BEEF
We raise our herd of 100-125 grass-fed beeves on the 60 acres pasture at our Brunner Farm location as well as our 240 acre Elkhorn, WI farm. . This perennial organic pasture was planted in 2016 and includes a wide variety of grasses, herbs, forbs, and clovers to keep the herd healthy.
These calves are born on pasture right here in northern Illinois, and fed only their mother's milk, pasture forage, and grass/alfalfa hay in winter. We also provide them with an organic mineral supplement consisting primarily or Icelandic sea kelp mixed with sea salts as well as raw apple cider vinegar in their water. They are never fed any grains, corn, soybeans, antibiotics, chemical dewormers, or hormones. This beef is very lean and much healthier than unhealthy, grain-fed feedlot beef. We raise heritage purebred Berkshire hogs outdoors on pasture, where they can spend their days being hogs - browsing for grass, alfalfa, forbs, legumes, and rooting around our mineral-rich soil for tubers, grubs, insects, acorns, chestnuts, mushrooms, and enjoying lots of sunshine, exercise, and fresh air. Their pasture forage is supplemented with a certified organic hog feed mix as well as raw milk, extra vegetables from our gardens, and raw apple cider vinegar. The certified organic grain mix includes non-GMO corn and soybeans from local farmers. We do not feed or inject our hogs with any antibiotics, hormones, fungicides, dewormers, or any other type of pharmaceuticals, ever!
Because they get the best natural pasture forage, organic feeds, plenty of exercise., minerals, and vegetation in their diets, these hogs are healthy, lean, and delicious. Their meat is firmer, juicier, and far superior to what is produced in the typical confinement facility where the pigs are jammed together indoors on a concrete slab and forced to eat large amounts of antibiotics and pharmaceuticals just to stay alive in those inhumane conditions. RAW MILK FROM GRASS-FED GUERNSEYS
Raw milk is provided from our grass-fed Guernsey cows. The Guernsey is renowned for their rich, golden-colored milk which is high in protein (A2A2) and butterfat, which makes for excellent drinking and great for making butter, ice cream, yogurt, kefir, and many cheeses.
Our small herd of registered Guernsey cows eat primarily pasture forages which they have accesss to 24 hours a day, supplemented with a small amount of organic dairy ration at milking time to provide them with all the vitamins, minerals, and energy they need to produce our nutritious milk. We test each cow's milk regularly monthly through a national food laboratory to ensure there are low levels of bacteria in their milk. If you have never tasted a free-range pasture-raised chicken, you are in for a real treat. Our Freedom Ranger birds are on fresh pasture as soon as they can handle the outside temperatures, and they consume up to 30% of their total diet in fresh greens - grasses, clover, alfalfa, and other legumes, plus seeds and insects. This meat is leaner, tastier, and healthier than the industrial-confinement chicken you buy in the store. We move their mobile range coops to a fresh patch of grass every day. Starting in 2015 all of our broiler chickens are processed at a small, family-owned USDA inspected facility near Beloit, WI. Pickup at the farm available the day after your chicken is processed - fresh or frozen - you can't get any fresher than that!
All of our chickens are fed a certified organic, Non-GMO, feed mixture provided by Cashton Farm Supply, located in Cashton, Wisconsin. PASTURED THANKSGIVING TURKEYS
Our old-fashioned Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys were the most popular Thanksgiving turkey from the 1930's through the late 1960's due to their excellent foraging ability outdoors and a much larger breast compared to the "wild turkeys" from the 1800's. Our Bronze turkeys consume up to 50% of their feed from our lush fall pasture, which includes a wide variety of greens - meadow fescue, timothy grass, red and ladino clover, alfalfa, and other legumes, plus seeds and insects. They are moved to fresh pasture every two days.
In addition to the pasture, our turkeys feed is supplemented with a certified organic, Non-GMO, feed mixture provided by Cashton Farm Supply, located in Cashton, Wisconsin. They purchase their organic corn, wheat, flax, and peas from local Illinois and Wisconsin farmers. None of our turkeys are fed or injected with any antibiotics or growth hormones.
This produces a leaner, tastier, and healthier meat than the industrial-confinement-antibiotic filled turkey you buy in the store.

FREE RANGE EGGS FROM PASTURE RAISED HENS
The "girls" are free to range on our lush pasture all day and their enclosed portable shelter is moved every few days so there is always a fresh supply of grass and forage. Approximately 50% of their food intake is fresh grasses, clover, alfalfa, leftover garden vegetables and fruits, along with the occasional worm, cricket, or other tasty bugs.
